Cookie Policy
Last updated: February 21, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Prodeo uses cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies when you visit and use our video editing platform. We categorize these technologies by purpose and explain your options for managing them.
Prodeo is built by a two-person team at En Dash ("we," "us," or "our"). For details about how we collect and use your personal data more broadly, please see our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, provide security features, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. Cookies are stored by your web browser and can be read by the website that created them on subsequent visits.
In addition to cookies, modern web applications can store data using other browser technologies such as Local Storage and IndexedDB. These technologies serve similar purposes but can store larger amounts of data and are managed differently than traditional cookies. We describe all of these technologies in this policy.
2. Cookie Categories
We organize the cookies and tracking technologies used by Prodeo into three categories based on their purpose. Each category is described in detail in the sections that follow.
| Category | Purpose | Can You Opt Out? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Required for the Service to function. These handle authentication, security, and session management. | No — blocking these will prevent core features from working. |
| Functional | Remember your preferences and settings to provide a better user experience across sessions. | Yes — though some preferences may not persist between visits. |
| Analytics | Help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and anonymous where possible. | Yes — see Opt-Out Options. |
We do not use any advertising or behavioral targeting cookies. Prodeo does not serve ads, and we do not share cookie data with advertisers.
3. Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to operate. Without them, core features such as logging in and maintaining your session cannot function. These cookies do not collect information for marketing or analytics purposes.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Attributes |
|---|---|---|---|
| user_session | Maintains your authenticated login session. Contains an encrypted payload with your session token and OAuth credentials. | 7 days | HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Lax |
| oauth_session | Stores temporary CSRF token and PKCE code verifier during the OAuth login flow. Destroyed immediately after authentication completes. | Session only | HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Lax |
4. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies enhance your experience by remembering preferences and settings. While not strictly required for the Service to operate, they allow us to provide features you expect, such as remembering your cookie consent choice.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Attributes |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences so we know which categories of cookies you have accepted or declined. | 1 year | Secure, SameSite=Lax |
Additional UI preferences (such as theme selection, panel sizes, and timeline zoom levels) are stored in your browser's Local Storage rather than cookies. See the Local Storage & IndexedDB section for details.
5. Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Service — which pages are visited most often, how long users spend in the editor, and where they encounter problems. This data is used exclusively to improve the Service and is never sold to third parties or used for advertising.
| Cookie | Set By | Purpose | Duration | Opt-Out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated ID. Does not contain personally identifiable information. | 2 years | Yes |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. Tracks page views and engagement events within a single browsing session. | 2 years | Yes |
Analytics cookies are only set when you have given consent. If you decline analytics cookies through our cookie consent banner, no analytics cookies will be placed on your device. You can change your preference at any time — see Opt-Out Options.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous, aggregate information about how the Service is used. Google Analytics helps us answer questions like:
- How many people visit the site and which pages they view
- How users navigate between pages and features
- What devices, browsers, and screen sizes are most common
- Which geographic regions our users come from (country/city level)
- Where users encounter errors or drop off during key workflows
What Data Is Collected
Google Analytics collects the following categories of data:
- Page views and navigation — Which pages you visit and how you navigate between them
- Session data — Session duration, number of pages per session, and whether you are a new or returning visitor
- Device and browser info — Browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and device category (desktop, tablet, mobile)
- Traffic sources — How you arrived at Prodeo (direct visit, search engine, referral link)
- Approximate location — Country and city derived from your IP address (your full IP address is not stored — see below)
Privacy Safeguards
We have configured Google Analytics with the following privacy protections:
- IP anonymization — Your IP address is truncated by Google before storage. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.
- No cross-site tracking — We do not enable Google Signals or any feature that links your Prodeo activity to your Google account or activity on other websites.
- No advertising features — We do not use Google Analytics data for remarketing, interest-based advertising, or audience sharing with Google Ads.
- Data retention limits — We have configured Google Analytics to retain event data for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
- No user-ID tracking — We do not send your Prodeo account ID, email address, or any personally identifiable information to Google Analytics.
Google processes this analytics data on our behalf as a data processor. For more information about how Google handles analytics data, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google Analytics Data Safeguards.
7. Third-Party Services & Cookies
Some third-party services we integrate with may set their own cookies when you interact with specific features of Prodeo. We do not control these cookies, but we describe them here for transparency.
Stripe (Payment Processing)
Our payment processor, Stripe, may set cookies when you interact with the payment interface on our pricing page or manage your subscription. These cookies are used for:
- Fraud detection and prevention
- Processing your payment securely
- Remembering your payment session state during checkout
Stripe cookies are only set when you actively interact with the payment checkout flow — they are not loaded on every page. These cookies are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy and Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Google (Analytics)
As described in the Google Analytics section above, Google sets _ga and _ga_* cookies when you consent to analytics. These cookies are classified as first-party cookies (set under the prodeo.app domain) but the data they collect is processed by Google's servers.
OAuth Identity Provider
When you log in via our OAuth identity provider, you are briefly redirected to the provider's website to authenticate. The provider may set its own cookies during this process, but those cookies are on the provider's domain, not ours. We do not control or have access to those cookies.
What We Do Not Use
For clarity, Prodeo does not use:
- Advertising cookies — We do not serve ads or participate in ad networks
- Social media tracking pixels — We do not embed Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or similar tracking widgets
- Cross-site tracking — We do not track your browsing activity across other websites
8. Local Storage & IndexedDB
In addition to cookies, Prodeo uses your browser's Local Storage and IndexedDB APIs to store data on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to our servers.
| Technology | Data Stored | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| IndexedDB | Local-only video editing projects (timeline data, settings, overlay configurations) | Enables you to work on projects offline without cloud storage. Projects stored here are never sent to our servers. |
| Local Storage | Editor UI state (undo/redo history, playback position, timeline zoom level, panel sizes) | Preserves your editing environment between sessions so you can pick up where you left off. |
| Local Storage | UI preferences (theme selection, notification settings) | Remembers your interface preferences across browser sessions. |
Because this data is stored entirely on your device, we cannot access, read, modify, or delete it from our servers. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
9. Managing Your Cookies
You have several options for managing cookies on Prodeo:
Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit Prodeo, you will see a cookie consent banner that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies (functional and analytics). Essential cookies cannot be declined because they are required for the Service to work. You can update your preferences at any time by clearing the cookie_consent cookie from your browser, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
Browser Settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and selectively delete them
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Configure cookie preferences on a per-site basis
- Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set
Browser-Specific Instructions
For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit:
Clearing Local Storage & IndexedDB
To clear data stored in Local Storage or IndexedDB, use your browser's developer tools or the "Clear site data" option in your browser's privacy settings. Note that clearing this data will remove any locally stored projects and editor preferences.
10. Opt-Out Options
You have several ways to opt out of analytics tracking on Prodeo:
Cookie Consent Banner
The simplest way to opt out is through our cookie consent banner. When you decline analytics cookies, no Google Analytics tracking code will be loaded and no analytics cookies will be set. To reset your choice, clear the cookie_consent cookie from your browser settings.
Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On
Google offers a free browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics JavaScript from sending data to Google Analytics across all websites you visit. You can download it from Google Analytics Opt-Out Add-On. This works in addition to (not instead of) our cookie consent banner.
Do Not Track (DNT)
Most browsers support a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. While there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, we respect your intent: if your browser sends a DNT header, we treat it as a decline of analytics cookies and will not load Google Analytics tracking code.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We recognize the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of analytics tracking, consistent with applicable privacy laws including the CCPA.
11. Impact of Disabling Cookies
The impact of disabling cookies depends on which category you block:
Essential Cookies
- Blocking
user_session— You will not be able to log in or maintain an authenticated session. Cloud features (saving projects, uploading files, accessing subscriptions) will be unavailable. - Blocking
oauth_session— The OAuth login flow will fail because the CSRF protection and PKCE verification cannot be maintained between the redirect steps.
Functional Cookies
- Blocking
cookie_consent— The cookie consent banner will appear on every visit because your preference cannot be remembered. The Service will otherwise function normally.
Analytics Cookies
- Blocking
_gaand_ga_*— No impact on Service functionality. Your visit will simply not be included in our aggregate analytics data.
You can always use Prodeo's local-only features (such as editing projects stored in your browser) without any cookies, but features requiring authentication will not work without essential cookies.
12. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our cookie practices, the tracking technologies we use, or applicable regulations. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we introduce new categories of cookies or new third-party tracking technologies, we will request your consent again through our cookie consent banner where required.
13. Contact Us
